I've been posting that simple phrase with just about every picture I've posted on this site and others, ever since I started playing around with posting artwork online which was in the summer of 2007.

Since then, I've played around with Poser, Vue, Carrara, Daz Studio, Hexagon and other art and 3D modeling programs, and posted my results on sites like Renderosity, Dreamslayer Artworks, Daz Artzone, and Runtime DNA (all under the name 'Seaview123', which has been my online alias for a really, really long time).

My work tends to focus on pinup art, which lets me indulge my inner adolescent from time to time, but also tends to be the most popular stuff on these types of sites. This gets me the most 'looks' and comments, which for me (and like most people who display their artwork online), gives me the incentive to improve and keep posting new work.

So to all the folks who check out my little hobby, my continued thanks, and I hope you have time enough to leave me a note saying you liked it, or let me know what I might need to put some more attention to. As ever, you folks are my inspiration.

A few days back I got a note from someone I'd never heard from before. The note read:

  "Hi Seaview123,
My boss is interested in your work. He's searching for a 3d female character for a film he's looking to finish.
Can you send me your email address so I can send you information about job, payment and further details?
   Thanks!
   Morris"

Now, I'm not normally a paranoid kind of guy, but I decided to look up this persons dA account before I started handing out the e-mail address that my wife gets recipes for cookies from Grandma on. And I found that my admirer had set up their dA account just that morning, and had sent out about 20 or so notes to other folks.

Having had my credit card number stolen a while back, I'm pretty careful about stuff like this. So I sent this reply:

"I'm sorry, but I'm not interested. I checked your profile, and it seems you just magically appeared on dA today, so it seems a little suspicious to me     that someone who doesn't frequent the galleries would want to pop up and offer someone a job. Especially with the number of people out there who prey on people on the internet. However, I'm pretty sure the dA moderators would be very interested in your hiring practices, and I'll be sure to let them know of your request.
Thank you and have a nice day."

They sent me back an answer soon afterward:

   "Tom,
I think you're overreacting a bit. Since when is it illegal to offer artists a job? By all means, notify the moderators so we can have a good laugh.
Even if you were interested, we wouldn't want to work with someone like yourself. At least so much is clear now.
Thanks for your attention. You have a nice day too, if your paranoia isn't in the way of that.
   Morris"

Well, that was a nice enough answer, but still not enough to make me comfortable about handing out personal info. But it did get me thinking...

Just how do folks arrange to do commissions, and ... was I being too paranoid?

Hello everyone and thanks for looking in...

I've been a member of dA for a while, but after looking around at the galleries, and I decided to move the pictures I've been posting to Renderosity to here. It seems like most of the people I know from there also post work here, and the folks seem to be friendlier. Thanks for all the comments and favorites, and cool looking artwork.

Hello everyone, and thanks for reading my first journal entry.

I've been a member of DA for over two years now, but really haven't been checking it that much, because I post most of my work on Renderosity and other sites. But, I figure that since so many of the folks I know from Rendo post here and swear by it, that I should probably put some of my pictures here, too.

This is pretty much a hobby for me, and what I do to pass the time. I'm always on the lookout for new tips and techniques to help me make better pictures, that folks would enjoy looking at. And I like to try and tell a story with my pictures. Not that I don't like the occasional portrait or sexy pinup, but  it's usually more interesting when there's a back story that goes along with the image, don't you think?

Well, thanks for reading, and I'll write again when I have something more to say.
Take care,
Tom
